A practical guide on how to create a website using the best method.

There are only three ways to build a website.

Only three.

And it may not be WordPress.

Do you know which is right for you?

Please switch correctly. If you switch later, it will take months of revenue and the time to switch. I have done some of these site migrations, I am afraid of them with every fiber of existence.

Before building your site directly, make sure that you have built the site in the proper way over a few minutes. If you make this decision correctly, everything else will be easier.

Choose the right approach

Answer two questions and you will know exactly how to build your site.

Will you sell real products on the website?

The only way to build an e-commerce site is Shopify. There is a very detailed and completely free guide on how to create an ecommerce website. Guide you through every step of the process.

If your site belongs to this category, skip the rest of this article. The other options do not apply to you.

Are you serious about getting a lot of traffic to your website?

I have a career in online marketing. Site building, traffic acquisition, funnel optimization is what I do

But…

Many sites don't need much traffic. Every cool traffic strategy is overkill.

For some businesses and projects, the information you need is a basic website that provides relevant information that provides more information about you.

The restaurant website is a perfect example. Must have name, menu, time, phone number and location. That's it! There are no great SEO strategies, lead funnels, virus growth hacks. None of that matters. Basic information site is enough for restaurants.

If you belong to this category, you will be lucky. I can always skip the extra stuff I have to do and create a very easy site. Nowadays, there are a lot of site builders that can create fantastic sites in minutes.

Now let's say you need a lot of traffic. And what?

Well, you need to build a wordpress site. It's still easy to set up yourself, but you don't have to code it yourself. But it's not as efficient as Site Builder. Additional features are provided to help build traffic. In this case, it is worth trying.

If you need traffic, you will want additional control in WordPress.

There are two options.

If your business requires a lot of traffic, use WordPress. A free guide on creating a WordPress website walks you through the process.
If you need a basic information Web site, use Site Builder. This guide explains all of the best website builders for you.

Let's take a closer look at all the options.

Create an E-Commerce Website for an Online Store

If you sell physical goods, you have only one option to create a website called Shopify.

Yes, there are other options that can be considered technically. But Shopify is so good that you don't have to choose anything else.

Building a website in Shopify has the following benefits:

    Very Easy Ecommerce Site Builder
Flexibility to change the site you want
    Built-in inventory and shipping management
Payment processing takes only a few minutes to set up
In-depth app market with the additional features you want

Get all the details in an in-depth review of Shopify.

There is no downside to using Shopify. Made a high quality product at a fair price. If you are building a website to sell real goods, sign up for Shopify immediately. I wouldn't think twice about it.

Shopify doesn't make sense if you don't sell the actual product. For other types of websites, there are easier, cheaper and more useful ways to build your site.

I also met several people who have worked for Shopify for years. They were all amazing people. Shopify not only developed amazing products, but also founded an amazing company. This means that the product will continue to improve over the next few years.

Website Builder Vs. WordPress

You can now choose.

You can build your own site using Website Builder or using WordPress.

Website maker Squarespace makes your work very easy. All you have to do is go to the site, choose an available domain, and then use the software to organize everything. They guide you through every step.

Website creators are absolutely suitable for:

    Restaurant
    Local business
    freelancer
    Hobby site
    Student group
    Community project
    "Resume" site
    Short term project

Sites like this don't need to take traffic building strategies seriously. When people want to know more about their business or project, they only need a site with a few pages.

Website creators have a downside. It does not handle large sites and lacks the advanced features needed to build large amounts of traffic. After all, most businesses don't need this, so a basic website creator is enough. You can get more value from simplicity and you won't notice the lack of advanced features. It is not necessary anyway.

How about WordPress?

When is it reasonable to go a more advanced path?

If you are building a large website or if your business relies on a lot of traffic to your site, use WordPress.

WordPress literally powers one third of the Internet. When you are serious about your website, there is everything you want.

Easy to install, you can get your site up and running quickly.
Ongoing development maintenance for the company that maintains WordPress reduces development maintenance costs and costs.
With complete flexibility and customizable time, you can build your site the way you want.
It's easy enough for a lot of people on your team to basically edit your site with the help of developers.
Great SEO built in. Many large sites rely on search engine traffic to some extent, so they only choose WordPress for SEO features.
It's completely open source so you can own your website and do whatever you want.
WordPress itself is free. You only have to pay for web hosting.

So WordPress is free, it has all the advanced features you need to build large amounts of traffic, and is completely customizable. So popular.

But compared to website builder, WordPress is more complicated. You need to set up web hosting, install WordPress, then use WordPress to configure your site and find the right theme. Sometimes you can easily change the site to your liking. In other cases, you may need to modify your website code or get help from a developer.

It all depends on what you aim for your business.

If you need a basic website with information about your business, use Website Builder because it makes it much easier to use Website Builder.

If you're building a large website, use WordPress because it's completely customizable and has the advanced features you need.

WordPress Vs. Other CMS systems

The other day, I went to the brewery with a friend. He recently sold a media business with millions of visitors each month. There was a great brand, a huge site and a lot of traffic.

At one point he said, “We built the entire site at Drupal.”

I spit almost my beer on him. “What did you do?”

“Our entire site is at Drupal. It was one of my biggest mistakes. ”

About 10 years ago, WordPress had some big competitors. Drupal and Joomla are the main ones.

This was a great deal of freelance migration from Drupal to WordPress around the beginning of my career.

Even then, WordPress was clearly an excellent choice. All other options are not user friendly, feature limited, and not maintained. This gap has expanded over the years.

There is no reason to consider a CMS other than WordPress these days. All other options are worse. My friend chose Drupal and deeply regretted it. I made a mistake. I will not personally touch the sites built on Drupal or Joomla.

What about WordPress.com?

A bit confused. I have WordPress.com and WordPress.org. Both are managed by the same company.

WordPress.org has all the free open source resources. Signing up for a web host and installing WordPress is just using the code from WordPress.org.

WordPress.com, on the other hand, is the commercial side of business. You can set up your website using WordPress.com. It's like getting WordPress and a web host at the same time. They offer free sites with limited and paid options.

This was a great option for those who wanted an easier option than setting up their own web host and installing WordPress. However, over the years two major changes have been made.

All web hosts now offer a simple WordPress installation.
Website creators now offer an easier way to build websites and are easier than WordPress.

WordPress makes managing your website much easier, but for some users, the website can be too complicated. The biggest complaint from users is the difficulty required for some basic tasks. Website creators, on the other hand, completely solved this problem.

So if you want a way to make your website easier, instead of getting a web host and installing WordPress, you should use Website Builder instead of WordPress.com.

The pros and cons of hiring a professional

What about hiring someone to build your site for you?

It is certainly an option.

My main advice is to choose the right tool yourself. So make the decision of whether you need Shopify, WordPress or one of the site creators. Do not let another person make this decision for you.

And once you are in the right tool, you can find someone who has a lot of experience with the tool you have chosen. Whether you work with a freelancer or an agency, look for someone with experience in the tool you have chosen. People who have a lot of experience with WordPress tend not to have so much experience with Shopify. And vice versa. The quality of your site will be higher if you find someone with a lot of experience in that tool.

However, all this is completely optional.

If cash is low, skip all this and do it yourself. Both Shopify and WordPress have tons of themes that you can use. They may not be perfect, but they are good enough to take off your site. These days, items that cost between $ 30 and $ 150 are usually as good as hand-created sites. Even many of the free themes cannot be distinguished from top-level sites.

When choosing a freelancer or agency to work for, ask to see their portfolio of sites live. Choose someone who has created sites that are very close to what you want. Most likely, you get a site that is very similar to your previous job.

If you are using a site creator, you do not need to pay someone to believe it. As there is not much to customize or configure, you will lose your money. The creators of sites are designed for complete beginners, you can get everything live within an afternoon yourself. They also produce sites that look fantastic without any additional customization.

Time to build your site

Let's recap.

There are only 3 ways to create your website.

For e-commerce sites, create your site with Shopify.
For basic websites, use a creator of highly rated websites.
To build large sites with a lot of traffic, use WordPress for your site.
